Overview
Billy Board started from a repetitive task I was often asked to do manually: preparing quotations. I wanted to automate that process for myself and for family members who needed a simple way to create professional quotes without relying on spreadsheets, templates or external software. The result is a lightweight web application that guides users through the process and generates a downloadable PDF directly in the browser.
The challenge
The main challenge was designing a workflow that remained simple for non-technical users while still supporting the details required in a real quotation. I also needed to handle different pricing scenarios, including VAT and non-VAT calculations, create a reusable PDF template and keep the entire experience browser-based without storing sensitive business or customer data on a server.
What I worked on
Beyond the interface.
UX & workflow
I designed a step-by-step flow for supplier information, customer details, quotation data and final preview, with the goal of keeping the process understandable for non-technical users.
Quote calculations
I implemented the quotation logic, including different VAT scenarios and the calculations required to produce a consistent final total.
PDF generation
I built a downloadable quotation template so users can generate and export the final document directly from the application.
Privacy-first architecture
The application works entirely in the browser. User data is kept locally and is not persisted in a backend database.
Design & iteration
I created a minimal interface and used AI as part of the design exploration process, then refined the result into a focused product experience.
